Question 3 of 4: The difference between a personal trouble and public issue is the source of the crisis (see “Micro-Lecture: personal troubles vs public issues”). In your responses to question 1, what was the reason for suicide and does this fit the definition of a personal trouble? In your responses to question 2, what was the reason for suicide and does this fit the definition of a public issue? Use at least two pieces of supporting evidence and include in-text citations and works cited.
Question 4 of 4: You may have the same reason for suicide in both questions 1 and 2, such as alcoholism. How can alcoholism be both a personal trouble and a public issue? Question 1 of 2: Imagine that a child asked you, Why are rich people rich and poor people poor? Use one of the three sociological approaches to social class presented in this module to respond to the child in a way that the child would understand. The three sociological approaches to social class presented in the module are labor theory of value, stratification, and labor studies (specifically The Precariat). Use at least two pieces of supporting evidence and include in-text citations and works cited.
Question 2 of 2: In your response to Question 1, you picked one of three sociological perspectives on social class. What are the strengths of this approach compared to the other two approaches? Use at least two pieces of supporting evidence from this module and include in-text citations and works cited, although additional supporting evidence is recommended as well. Note: a full credit response will discuss and compare the three sociological approaches to social class presented in the module.
