I chose the research “The First Step to Creating an Evidence-Based Practice Culture” for this topic. In this study, they discuss whether nurses should keep current on evidence-based practice or if it should be the duty of the agency and organization. According to the findings of this study, nurses had a greater degree of EBP beliefs than the rest of the company. Based on these findings, the study’s major focus was the significance of individual nurses’ efforts in carrying out EBP, but more importantly, efforts to develop an organizational culture to prepare for and support EBP at the nursing organization level. I feel it is critical for nurses to stay current with new research and information that is released. I also feel it is the agency’s or organizations’ responsibility to have a high degree of EBP comprehension and expertise. The greatest decision would be for the company to remain current on new studies and to implement nurses to do the same. They may compel this by sending emails and organizing seminars for nurses to attend and participate in. I feel it is reasonable for nurses and the organization to be current on new findings.

I chose to use the pilot study done at John Hopkins hospital using the Nursing Evidence- Based Practice Model and the Advancing Research Clinical practice through close Collaboration model. Both these models were done through the organization of John Hopkins university. This study was conducted by doing surveys before and after the project. The study showed a positive movement in the post surveys. I believe this shows a positive causation between having this project done by the organization and the nurses at the hospital participating. Therefore this study shows that if the hospital provides the nurses with continued education classes and projects it will benefit the patient outcomes. This outcomes will allow for nurses to continue to use evidence based practice decisions and refresh the staff on proper techniques and new technology. With saying that I think that the better option would be to have the organization provide the staff with these courses and education. This way it is certain that the staff has fully participated and allows for continence for the staff to participate. Many times if the nurses were expected to do this on their own out of their facility it may be time consuming and stressing to the staff creating excuses and obstacles to complete these projects. The study also gave verification that the organizations financial investment in the project was worth it with the benefit of a better and evidence based staff by proof of the survey.
