In contrast, phenomenological analysis best applies in studies that aim at understanding and defining varied perspectives of phenomena or topics such as nursing theory and its relevant application. The different qualitative research approaches are necessary for the healthcare profession and academics to promote nursing research and align transformations with reality in the health sector.Quantitative research involves gathering and statistically analyzing collected data using mathematical formulas, models, and scientific software tools. It applies in empirical research, where the researcher can measure the variable accurately. Research studies are essential to the nursing profession because it provides solid evidence that nurses can use to make wise clinical decisions and judgments in the clinical setting. It also helps caregivers provide patients with evidence-based care that is clinically relevant, economical, and likely to have positive patient outcomes (Staggs, 2019). As such, increasing knowledge contribution also helps raise the standards and reputation of the nursing profession. Therefore, nurses need to have the expertise and do research.Qualitative and quantitative research are two different research methodologies incorporated into nursing research. Qualitative research aims to better comprehend a specific phenomenon of attention by acquiring, analyzing, and interpreting extensive narrative and visual evidence. The research aims to understand natural phenomena by examining various aspects simultaneously. This strategy uses inductive reasoning (Squires & Dorsen, 2018). Qualitative data is narrative or visual and requires thematic analysis to interpret it. In thematic analysis, words and phrases are coded and grouped into categories. As the data is encoded, connections between new themes become apparent. As a result, because qualitative data is expressed through words, researchers must take careful notes and record their interviews before developing categories to classify and arrange the data. Ultimately, researchers spend much time going back and forth through the notes to find significant links.On the other hand, quantitative research includes acquiring and examining arithmetic data to describe, explain, predict, or manage relevant occurrences. It requires systematic statistical analysis techniques to interpret the data because the analysis of numerical data is complex (Grove et al.,2018). Working out the mean, median, standard deviation, variance, and other algebraic analysis parameters can be accomplished using software like SPSS or R. The method of using a meta-analysis to compile the findings of quantitative research. A meta-analysis is as all-encompassing as it can be. Each study’s effect size is estimated in a meta-analysis, and the average of those effect sizes is then determined. The strength or magnitude of the relationship can be expressed numerically using the concept of effect size.
